Listen offline

With Spotify Premium, you can download music so it’s available everywhere you go. You can listen without an internet connection and save your mobile data by downloading up to 3,333 songs per device, on a maximum of 3 different devices.

Note: An internet connection is initially required for downloading.  

  1. Switch on Download on a playlist you want to listen to offline.

    Tip: When it's finished downloading, the Downloaded symbol  appears to the right of the playlist name. 
  2. Now, whenever you're not connected to the internet, or when your app is in offline mode, you can still listen to this playlist.

Set app to offline mode

Whenever you lose connection to the internet, you'll be able to listen to your downloaded tracks.

If you want to manually set your desktop app to offline mode:

Mac

  1. Open Spotify.
  2. Click Spotify in the Apple menu at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Offline Mode.

Windows

  1. Open Spotify.
  2. Click File in the Windows menu at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Offline Mode.

Note: An internet connection is initially required for downloading.  

  1. Switch on Download on an album, playlist, or podcast you want to listen to offline. You can also switch it on for all Songs in Your Library

    Tip: The Downloaded symbol  indicates the download is complete.
  2. Now, whenever you're not connected to the internet, or when your app is in offline mode, you can still listen to this playlist.

Set app to offline mode

If you want to manually set your iPhone to offline mode:

  1. Tap Your Library .
  2. Tap Settings .
  3. Tap Playback.
  4. Switch on Offline.

Allow downloading with your data connection

By default, downloading over your mobile data connection (3/4G) is disabled. To enable it:

  1. Tap Your Library .
  2. Tap Settings .
  3. Tap Music Quality.
  4. Under Download, select Download using cellular.

Tip: We recommend downloading over WiFi to avoid mobile data charges.
