Why am I paying more than before?
Here are a few reasons why you may be seeing an increase in your monthly charge, and what you can do about it.
Signed up with a trial?
If you sign up to one of our discount introductory offers and don’t cancel it, you’ll start being charged the standard monthly rate when your trial period runs out. We give you a heads up about this when the trial starts.
Subscribe with iTunes?
Paying for Spotify through iTunes is more expensive than doing so directly with Spotify.com because of Apple’s transactional costs.
Premium for Family
With Premium for Family, the subscription rate is slightly higher than regular Premium as it’s intended for more than one person.
But the total price is still less than 2 Premium subscriptions and you can have up to 6 people on it! So it does mean cheaper Premium per person.
Note: By purchasing Premium for Family, you agree to only invite people who reside at your same address.
We’ll only charge you once per month for a single subscription. If you notice more than one monthly payment to us, it’s possible you have a second account that’s also subscribed to Premium.
Student discount expiration
Our student discounts expire after a year, so when that happens your subscription will automatically go back to the standard monthly rate.
If you’re still eligible for the student discount, all you need to do is sign up to it again.
Did you move?
Our subscription and VAT rates can vary depending on location. If you move and change your payment method to match, you might notice a difference in price.
Our fees can be subject to change due to market or regional factors, such as inflation or changes in tax. We will always contact you via the email address registered on your account, or an in-app push notification, to let you know in advance about any changes to your pricing.
If you don't want to continue your subscription under a new rate, you can cancel any time.
