DJ is your personal music companion. It plays favorites you already love and introduces new genres, playlists, and artists based on your taste.

You can also type or talk to shape your listening, explore what's playing, and more. Check out Talking to Spotify for more info.

Getting started with DJ

You can find DJ in a few places:

• On Home, tap
• In Search, search for ‘DJ’
• In Now Playing view, tap the chat window while something is playing

Tip: Tap to talk instead of type.

Making a request to DJ

You can interact with DJ in different ways:

• Type a request in the text box
• Tap to talk
• Pick from your personalized suggestions
• Tap again to change the mood

Steering your listening

Tell Spotify what you want to listen to, whether it’s music, podcasts, or audiobooks.

Start listening to something based on any ideas you have:

• Play upbeat music that matches my summer energy
• Play new releases from my favorite artists that I haven’t heard yet

Ask questions about the podcast or audiobook you're listening to:

• What other podcasts has this guest been on?
• Recommend me audiobooks similar to this

Shape what plays in real time, or learn more about it:

• Make it more upbeat
• Who are this artist's influences?

Find out more about your listening history:

• When did I first listen to this song?
• How many times have I played this song?

You can also listen to anything you can describe in your own words:

• Make me a rainy Sunday morning playlist
• Play songs I listened to in 2024 but not 2025

Tip: You can also ask to perform actions for you, such as: 'Add this to my queue' or 'Follow this artist'.

Changing the DJ language

To change the language:

1. Tap to open DJ.
2. Tap (iOS) / (Android).
3. Tap DJ language.
4. Select your preferred language.

Note: DJ is currently available in a limited number of languages.
