Uploading videos in Spotify for Artists

Upload full-length videos to Spotify directly through Spotify for Artists to help listeners connect with your music in new ways.

You can upload:

  • Live performances
  • Studio sessions
  • Covers
  • Official music videos

Videos longer than 30 seconds can earn royalties and may be eligible for charts, just like audio. Learn more about your Spotify royalties.

Video uploads in Spotify for Artists are currently in beta with tens of thousands of artists. If you don't see the upload option yet, join the waitlist and we'll let you know when access is available to you.

Note: Artists now have the option to upload directly in Spotify for Artists. Delivery through labels and distributors remains the primary delivery path for audio and video music content on Spotify. Learn more.

Uploading videos

For: Artist and Label team Admins and Editors

  1. Log in to Spotify for Artists on desktop.
  2. Go to Video & Visuals.
  3. Click Upload Video.
  4. Drag and drop your video file, or choose it from your files.
  5. Add your music info and video details.
  6. Submit your video.

Your videos should be:

  • Music-first, with the song as the main focus
  • Landscape (16:9)
  • Longer than 30 seconds
  • Shorter than 20 minutes
  • Under 50 GB
  • At least 1920 × 1080 pixels

Make sure your video follows our platform rules and content policy.

Adding music info

After uploading your video, you'll be asked whether the song featured in the video is a cover or an original song from your catalog.

You'll then link the song featured in your video.

If it's not a cover:

  • Link a song from your catalog.
  • Select Unreleased audio if the song isn't available on Spotify yet.

If it's a cover:

  • Link the original song you're covering.
  • If you have your own released cover recording on Spotify, you can link both your version and the original song.

Adding video details

After uploading, you can:

  • Edit the title
    Note: We recommend keeping the title aligned with the song title. Don't include the artist name, "Live", or other version details here.
  • Add the Video version
  • Choose a video type
  • Pick a thumbnail from auto-generated options or by selecting a frame
  • Publish immediately or schedule for later
  • Toggle 18+ and Explicit settings
  • Add advanced details, including songwriters and a Video ISRC
    Note: Third-party charts providers may use ISRCs for chart calculations

What happens after you submit

After you submit, your video goes into processing.

We'll notify you by email and in Spotify for Artists when it's live.

After successful processing:

  • Your video can take up to 24 hours to appear on Spotify.
  • Video analytics are available around 24 hours after your video goes live.

After your video is scheduled or live, you can edit the title or delete it from your Video & Visuals in Spotify for Artists.

Note: If you need to change any other video details, delete the video and upload it again with the updated information.

Video analytics

Admins, Editors, and Readers on the artist or label team can view video analytics in Spotify for Artists.

Available metrics include:

  • All-time video streams
  • Stream trends over time
  • Listener trends over time

Fixing upload or processing issues

If there's an issue with your video, you'll see its status and any errors in your Video & Visuals in Spotify for Artists.

Processing issues

If your video fails to process, you’ll need to delete it and upload it again.

Rights issues

If a rightsholder blocks your video, we'll email you.

If you believe you have the necessary rights, you may be able to appeal the block.

Where listeners see your videos

Videos uploaded through Spotify for Artists can appear across Spotify, including:

  • The Video tab on your artist profile
  • Now Playing view
  • Editorial video playlists
  • Videos For You
  • Fan push notifications

They can also be found on Home, release pages, and in a shelf in the Now Playing view.

Videos uploaded directly through Spotify for Artists can be viewed on Spotify by Premium listeners in the following countries and regions:

You'll need a Spotify Premium account to watch videos uploaded through Spotify for Artists. If your video isn't showing on Spotify, check that you're in one of the countries or regions listed above. Video uploads are only available in supported markets while the feature is in beta.
