Streaming in lossless

While you may have your streaming quality set to Lossless, factors such as the stability of your WiFi or mobile data connection, and the availability of sufficient internet bandwidth, can significantly impact whether you actually experience that lossless quality.

We recommend a steady internet connection of 1.5 to 2 Mbps for the best lossless listening experience.

    • Lossless depends on how the music was originally recorded.
  • Lossless-compatible devices
    • Check that your device supports lossless playback.
  • Connection type
    • How you connect to your headphones or speakers (e.g. Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, AUX cable) can impact quality as some methods may not support lossless quality.
    • Your device may be incompatible with lossless
    • Your audio quality settings aren’t set to lossless
    • You may have a poor internet connection

How to listen in lossless

    1. Tap your profile picture.
    2. Go to Settings and privacy.
    3. Select Media quality.
    4. Choose Lossless for Wi-Fi, cellular streaming, or downloads.

  • Note: To listen to lossless on a third-party device, you will need to switch the settings from your mobile device.

Using lossless on other devices

If your device supports lossless, make sure it’s on the latest firmware. You’ll usually find this in the device’s settings or “about” section. For help, contact the device manufacturer.

To play in lossless, you must use the Device settings while connected via Spotify Connect.

Troubleshooting

Playback glitches or buffering issues on lossless

You can try lowering the audio quality by going to your device settings in the Spotify app. Make sure the device has a good network connection.
