Music videos on Spotify
Music videos bring your releases to life, where fans can switch between listening and watching right from the Now Playing view.
Delivering music videos to Spotify
There are a few ways music videos can be added to Spotify, including:
- Through a label or distributor
- Through Spotify for Artists direct upload
Note: Video uploads through Spotify for Artists are currently in beta. We're rolling out access to a limited group of artist teams before expanding availability more widely. Learn more.
This article covers music videos delivered through a label or distributor, which remains the primary delivery path for audio and video music content on Spotify.
Labels and distributors deliver music videos to Spotify. They handle the distribution of your music and pay streaming royalties. Learn more about Spotify royalties.
Spotify uses songwriter and publisher data registered with the MLC to determine if a music video is eligible for distribution in the US. This is separate from the label or distributor delivery process. Learn more.
Managing music videos in Spotify for Artists
Once your music video is delivered by your label or distributor, go to Video & Visuals then Video to see all your videos ordered by release date.
The Video tab includes music videos and other videos available on your artist profile. This tab is only visible to artists with videos on Spotify.
Alongside music videos, you can continue using tools like Canvas and Countdown Pages to build excitement around your music.
Note: If your label or distributor removes a music video from Spotify, it disappears from Spotify for Artists too.
Availability of distributor-delivered music videos for listeners
Listeners can watch your music videos while playing your song by hitting Switch to video in the Now Playing view.
They can also switch to landscape for a full-screen video.
Note: This availability information applies to music videos delivered through a label or distributor. Availability for videos uploaded through Spotify for Artists may differ while the feature is in beta. Learn more about uploading videos in Spotify for Artists.
