Podcast content that impersonates another creator’s likeness

Spotify will remove podcast content that impersonates another creator or host’s likeness without their permission — whether that’s using AI cloning or any other method.

For the purposes of this policy, the terms “impersonate” and “clone” mean creating a show, episode, or other content that uses a replica of another creator’s likeness without that creator’s permission.

This applies to claims we receive with respect to:

  • Shows and other content that clone a real creator’s likeness (which includes voice, image and other identifying characteristics) without their permission — whether or not the uploader is pretending to be the creator or is presenting themselves as an “AI version” of the creator.
  • Shows that do not include the impersonated creator’s name in the metadata or credits, but the elements of the likeness are clearly recognizable as the exact likeness of another creator, without that creator’s permission.

There are some exceptions to this policy, such as certain forms of parody.

Submit a claim through our legal form if someone is impersonating your likeness on Spotify without your authorization. Select Impersonation as the report type, and Podcast under “What type of content are you reporting?”
