Understanding Audience analytics
Audience analytics help you understand who’s listening to or watching your show.
If you’re hosted with Spotify for Creators, you’ll also see audience data from other platforms where your show is available.
You have the option to export each section of data as CSV files.
See the analytics glossary for analytics definitions and refresh rates.

Audience segments
Audience segments break down your Spotify audience into new and returning audience members.
- Returning audience: The number of distinct people who played at least 1 episode of this show on Spotify in the prior 12 months, and came back to play at least 1 episode during the selected time period.
- New audience: The number of distinct people who played at least 1 episode of this show on Spotify during the selected time period, but did not play any episodes of this show in the prior year.
- Spotify audience: The number of unique people that played any episode of your show on Spotify during the selected time period.
Audience totals count your audience once for the whole period selected. Your Spotify audience falls into only one group: new audience if they hadn't played your show in the prior year, or returning audience if they had, with no one from your audience being in both groups.
The Audience breakdown chart looks at activity within the selected period. Your audience can show up more than once and can appear in both groups on different days. For example, someone who plays your show for the first time and then comes back later in the period can be counted as new the first day and returning when they return. In your audience totals, that same person is counted just once, as new.
You can adjust the date range to analyze growth in your new and returning audiences over time.
