Publishing audio episodes
If you host your show with Spotify, you can publish your episodes in Spotify for Creators.
You can also check out how to upload video if you have or want to publish a video show or podcast.
Note: It's against our Terms of Service to upload audio that belongs to someone else.
Uploading your episode
- On web, click New episode then Select a file to upload your audio file
- On the mobile app, tap Podcast then + and Select a file
Note: You can’t record or edit videos with Spotify for Creators. Check out our Riverside integration via Spotify for Creators web for help recording and editing video. Read more here or watch a tutorial video.
Publishing your episode
You need to verify your account before you can publish your first video or episode. You should've received a verification email when you created your account.
Check this article if you haven't received a verification email
Once you’ve selected your file, on the Details page, give your episode a title and description. Make your selections under the Content checks section. You can also add season and episode numbers, as well as episode artwork under Additional details.
- To publish your episode right away, select Now under Publish date.
- To publish your episode at a future date, choose Schedule.
Publish times are shown in your local time.
To cancel or edit a scheduled publish date:
- On web, click into the episode and hit the 3 dots, then Revert to draft.
- On the mobile app, select the episode, and tap then Edit schedule.
Your episode will go live on Spotify instantly, unless you set a scheduled publish time.
If at any point you want to save your work and return later, just click the X in the top-right corner.
Supported file types
We support MP3, M4A, and WAV file types.
We also support video files. Learn more about uploading video.
We don't have a file size limit, but larger files will take time to process and can have a higher chance of failing if your internet connection is interrupted.
If you’re uploading MP3 files, we recommend keeping embedded artwork, ID3v2 tags, and other metadata as small as possible.
Issues during upload
If you're getting an error during the upload process, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure that the file type you’re using is supported under Supported file types.
- Double-check that the audio file plays properly on your device.
Your browser may not support the file type you’re using. Check that it does support your file type
