Countdown videos
Countdown videos are short videos you can add to a Countdown Page to build excitement for an upcoming release. You can use them to tease new music, share behind-the-scenes footage, and give fans a glimpse into the world behind the release.
Uploading countdown videos
For: Admins and Editors
You can add countdown videos when creating or editing a Countdown Page for an eligible release. Learn more about Countdown Pages.
Your countdown videos need to be:
- Vertical with audio
- Longer than 3 seconds
- Shorter than 30 seconds
- At least 1280 x 720 pixels
Editing or deleting countdown videos
You can update or remove your countdown videos anytime before your release goes live.
- Log into artists.spotify.com.
- Go to Music then Upcoming.
- Select your release.
- Open your Countdown Page.
- Edit or remove your countdown videos.
Where listeners see countdown videos
Listeners can see countdown videos on Countdown Pages in the Spotify mobile app.
Countdown Pages may also be surfaced across Spotify, including:
- Artist profiles
- Search
- Home
- Now Playing view
- Upcoming Releases hub
Once the release is live, the Countdown Page and any associated countdown videos are no longer available on Spotify.

Make sure your Clips abide by our platform rules. We may remove content that violates our policies.
Avoiding prohibited content
Don't upload content that:
- Is abusive toward an individual or group
- Threatens violence
- Promotes child exploitation
- Is deceptive in a way that increases the risk of harm
- Incites violence against people based on a protected characteristic
Using content you have rights to
Make sure you have all rights and permissions needed to use and post the content in your video.
If your video includes music, you must have all necessary rights and clearances to use it on Spotify.
Avoiding branded or watermarked content
Countdown videos should help listeners connect with your upcoming release.
Don't:
- Include watermarks from other platforms
- Direct listeners to external websites or ticket vendors
- Ask listeners to follow or engage with you on other platforms
- Use countdown videos primarily for advertising or promotional purposes unrelated to your release
Meeting quality requirements
Make sure your video meets the required specifications.
We may remove videos that are blurry, low quality, or otherwise don't meet our technical requirements.
Marking explicit content
Mark your countdown video as explicit if it contains:
- Profanity
- Imagery of or references to violence, physical abuse, or mental abuse
- Imagery of or references to recreational drugs or other controlled substances
- Imagery of or references to sexual behavior
- Imagery of or references to sensitive topics
If you're unsure whether your content should be marked as explicit, we recommend erring on the side of caution.
