Analytics glossary

All analytics that can be found in Spotify for Creators’ analytics pages are listed below.

General

  • The number of times any episode of your show was watched or listened to for at least 30 seconds on Spotify during the selected time period. Plays update every 15 minutes.

  • The number of times any episode of your show was watched or listened to for at least 30 seconds on Spotify, or downloaded on any platform, during the selected time period. This metric is available for creators that host with Spotify for Creators only. Plays & downloads update every 15 minutes.

  • The number of times any episode of your show has been downloaded via your show's RSS feed on any podcast platform. This metric is available for creators that host with Spotify for Creators only. Downloads update every 15 minutes.

People

  • The number of distinct people that played any episode of this show on Spotify during the selected time period. Audience numbers update every 24 hours.

  • The number of distinct people that played or downloaded any episode of this show on a podcast listening platform other than Spotify during the selected time period. This metric is available for creators that host with Spotify for Creators only. Audience numbers update every 24 hours.

  • The number of distinct people that played or downloaded any episode of this show on any platform during the selected time period. This metric is available for creators that host with Spotify for Creators only. Audience numbers update every 24 hours.

  • The number of people who started following your show on Spotify during the selected time period. Followers update every 24 hours.

  • The number of unique people who played at least 1 episode of your show on Spotify during the selected time period, but had not played any episodes of that show in the prior year. Audience numbers update every 24 hours.

  • The number of unique people who played at least 1 episode on Spotify of your show in the prior year, and came back to play another episode during the selected time period. Audience numbers update every 24 hours.

Engagement

  • The percentage of your audience that made it at least 95% of the way through an episode. This rate is averaged across recent episodes of this show on Spotify that have 7 days of data. Completion rates update every 24 hours.

  • The average amount of time people spent watching or listening to an episode of your show on Spotify during the selected time period. Consumption time updates every 15 minutes.

  • The percentage of your audience that made it at least 95% of the way through an episode on Spotify during its first 7 days after publish. Completion rates update every 24 hours.

  • The total amount of time people spent watching or listening to any episode of your show on Spotify during the selected time period. Consumption time updates every 15 minutes.

  • The completion rates for your most recent episodes in their first 7 days after publish. It counts as episode completion when a person makes it at least 95% of the way through an episode. Completion rates update every 24 hours.

  • Each episode completion quartile (first, second, and third) represents the percentage of your audience that made it 25%, 50%, and 75% of the way through an episode on Spotify during its first 7 days after publish. Completion rates update every 24 hours.

  • The percentage of your audience that returns each week for another episode. Retention rate updates every 24 hours.

  • The percentage of your audience that returns each week. Week-over-week retention updates every 24 hours.

Discovery

  • The percentage of impressions that led to plays on Spotify. Impressions update every 48 hours.

  • The number of times your content was displayed on someone's screen on Spotify during the selected time period. Your impression count includes your episodes and your show page impressions. It does not reflect whether or not people engaged with the content. Impressions update every 48 hours.

Video

  • The average amount of watch time from your total audience. Watch time updates every 15 minutes.

  • The total amount of watch time from your total audience. Watch time updates every 15 minutes.

  • The amount of time your video episode was visible on a viewer’s screen. Watch time updates every 15 minutes.

  • The time your audience spent time watching vs. listening. Watch time updates every 15 minutes.

Sharing

  • The percentage of clicks that led to plays on Spotify during the selected time period. Conversation rate (from clicks) updates every 24 hours.

  • The number of times your shared links were clicked during the selected time period. Clicks update every 24 hours.

  • The number of plays that resulted from clicks on your shared links during the selected time period. Plays (from clicks) update every 24 hours.
