Synced Feeds

If you offer a separate, paid version of your podcast through one of our Spotify Open Access partner platforms (including Patreon, Substack, Supporting Cast, and Supercast), Synced Feeds is an opportunity to streamline your podcast page on Spotify and promote your paid offering.

This feature works well if you offer your subscribers premium versions of your free episodes.

How it works

When you activate Synced Feeds, we merge your episodes into one list, hide duplicates, and customize how your podcast page appears to Spotify listeners depending on whether or not they’re subscribed:

  • Non-subscribers see all your free episodes, locked bonus episodes, and subtle upsells for your paid content so they know what they’re missing out on
  • Subscribers see all premium versions of your episodes, all bonus episodes, plus any free episodes that weren’t also published to your subscriber feed

To be eligible, follow these steps to claim both your free and paid podcasts on Spotify for Creators using the same Spotify account

Note: Synced Feeds is only available to creators who don’t host their podcasts with Spotify for Creators.

Activating Synced Feeds

  1. Log in to Spotify for Creators on web and select your free podcast from the list on the left.
  2. Click Episodes then Synced feeds.
  3. Click Learn more and follow the steps on screen.

The subscriber benefits you select during these steps appear near the top of your show pages and next to your episodes in the Spotify app, so make sure you represent them honestly.

Note: It’s not possible to activate or manage Synced Feeds on the Spotify for Creators mobile app.

Managing episode pairs

  1. Log in to Spotify for Creators on web and select your free podcast from the list on the left.
  2. Click Episodes then Synced feeds.

We analyze newly published and existing episodes to find episode pairs.

We automatically approve pairs that are a good match with high certainty.

If we find a possible episode pair with lower certainty, you need to review and manually approve it before the episodes are paired on Spotify.

To approve pending pairs:

  1. Click Pending.
  2. For episode pairs you want to approve, click the checkbox to the left then Approve pairs.

To edit approved pairs:

  1. Click Approved.
  2. Click Icon for editing next to the episode pair you want to edit.
  3. Find the correct episodes to pair and make sure the subscriber benefits for the episode are correct.
  4. Click Confirm.

To add a new pair:

  1. Click Approved then Add pair.
  2. Find the correct episodes to pair and select the appropriate subscriber benefits for the paid episode.
  3. Click Add.

It can take a little time for paired episodes to update in the Spotify app.

Editing subscriber benefits for your show

  1. Log in to Spotify for Creators on web and select your free podcast from the list on the left.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Under Synced Feeds, make changes to your selected subscriber benefits then click Save.

Deactivating Synced Feeds

Deactivating Synced Feeds removes all episode pairs and reverts your free and paid show pages to only display episodes from their respective feeds.

You can always reactivate Synced Feeds later, but none of your prior episode pairings will be saved.

  1. Log in to Spotify for Creators on web and select your free podcast from the list on the left.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Under Synced Feeds, click Turn off.

It can take a little time for your shows to disconnect in the Spotify app.
