Setting up 2-step verification for Spotify Payouts
For: Organization owners. Learn more about organization owners
2-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your Spotify Payouts account by requiring a second step after you enter your password.
Turning on 2-step verification
We require you to activate 2-step verification if you’ve earned $1,000 USD or more within one month.
If you don’t activate 2-step verification within 30 days of reaching this earnings threshold, your payouts will be placed on hold. You’ll be allowed a one-time grace payment over $1,000 USD without having 2-step verification, but further payments will be placed on hold. If this happens, your earnings will continue to accrue until you’ve activated 2-step verification on your account.
We strongly encourage 2-step verification for increased protection for all authors or authors who publish through Spotify for Authors who use Spotify Payouts - even if they don’t earn more than $1,000 a month.
- Log in to accounts.spotify.com.
- Select 2-step verification then Set up. You may need to log in again.
- Choose whether to enable 2-step verification via an authenticator app or text message (SMS).Tip: You can enable both options by coming back to this page.
Using an authenticator app
- Download an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator to your phone.
- On your Spotify account page, scan the QR code or enter the activation code to link your authenticator app to Spotify.
