Listen to audiobooks by discovering and unlocking titles on Spotify.

• Pay for access to an audiobook from the web player
• Play unlocked titles on the app from any of your devices
• Download the entire audiobook to listen offline

Find audiobooks

Find an audiobook by title or author name in Search .

Or, browse through the audiobooks in our catalog.

1. Go to Search .
2. Under Browse All, select Audiobooks.
3. Browse featured titles, or scroll down to browse by category.

Once you select a title, you can:

• See the audiobook’s description, length, and rating
• Check for an E tag to see if the audiobook contains explicit content
• Save the audiobook in case you want to unlock it later
• Play a sample of the audiobook

Audiobooks you’ve unlocked or saved appear in Your Library under Audiobooks.

Unlock an audiobook

A one-time payment unlocks an audiobook for your account, and you can listen to the audiobook anytime on Spotify.

When you unlock an audiobook, you agree that we are giving you the right to access the Audiobook content, but this content is not being sold or transferred to you. Spotify and its partners retain ownership of the Audiobook content even after you unlock or access it.

You can pay for access to audiobooks with the following methods:

• Credit/debit card
• PayPal

How to pay for access to an audiobook

Audiobook payments can only be done through the web, but you can listen anytime in the app once you’ve unlocked the title.

• If your plan includes audiobook listening time

  If you have Premium with audiobook listening time, you can still choose to pay for access to audiobooks from the subscriber catalog separately.

  Note: After you pay for access to an audiobook separately, listening to it won’t count towards your plan’s allotted monthly audiobook listening time.

  Desktop and Web

  1. On the title you want to get, click .
  2. Click Buy book. This will take you to the checkout page on your browser.
  3. Enter and confirm your payment details. 

• If your plan does not include audiobook listening time

  Android

  1. On the audiobook, tap .
  2. Choose Get email. We’ll send the audiobook details and how to unlock it to the email address on your account.
  3. In the email, tap UNLOCK AUDIOBOOK. This will take you to the checkout page.
  4. Enter or confirm your details.
  5. Tap Pay to unlock.

  Web player and iOS

  1. Go to open.spotify.com on your web browser to find titles.
  2. On the audiobook, select Unlock. This will take you to the checkout page.
  3. Enter or confirm your payment details.
  4. Select Pay to unlock.

Play and download audiobooks

Once the audiobook is ready to play, it will appear unlocked in Your Library .

You can download the audiobook to listen to it offline, available on both Premium and free.

• Mobile

  Tap to start listening.

  In the Now Playing view:

  • Tap to control the play speed
  • Tap to skip forward 15 seconds, or tap to rewind 15 seconds
  • Tap to set a sleep timer
  • Tap (iOS) / (Android) to:
    • Rate the audiobook once you’ve listened to at least one chapter
    • Share with your friends and to your social channels

  Download audiobooks

  To download the entire audiobook, tap .
  
  Note: You can’t download individual chapters.

• Desktop and web player

  Click to start listening. You can also:

  • Click to control the play speed
  • Click to skip forward 15 seconds, or click to rewind 15 seconds

  Download audiobooks

Audiobooks with extra material

Some audiobooks have extra material designed to enhance your listening experience.

Once you’ve unlocked an audiobook, you can view the material:

1. In the email from Spotify, click the download link.
2. Select your preferred browser and choose Download. The material will be automatically downloaded to your device.
3. Look for the material in the Downloads folder on your browser.

Tip: For mobile devices, you can also try the following:

1. Under the book’s description, select Extras.
2. Select the material to view it on your device’s browser.

Note: If you’ve unlocked an audiobook with extra material but didn’t get an email, contact us.
