Getting started with Countdown Pages on Spotify

A Countdown Page is a destination for fans to pre-save your upcoming album, preview the tracklist, watch Clips, buy merch, and see the timer count down to the release moment — all in one place.

Eligibility requirements

Artist eligibility

You need at least 5,000 monthly active listeners.

Check that you have enough monthly active listeners:

  1. Log in to artists.spotify.com.
  2. Go to Open the Audience tab Audience then Segments.
  3. Click monthly active listeners.

Tip: Make sure you're checking your monthly active listeners, not your overall monthly listeners.

Release eligibility

Your upcoming release also needs to meet a few criteria:

  • Only new and original albums and EPs are eligible for Countdown Pages. Singles aren't eligible. Rereleases of an album or EP, including deluxe editions, anniversary editions, reissues/remasters, and compilations, aren't eligible either — regardless of added or altered material
  • Your label or distributor must deliver your finished release as per standard procedure via DDEX
  • If your release has multiple main artists, only the first-named main artist can create a Countdown Page, and the Countdown Page only appears on that artist's Spotify profile
  • Countdown Pages only support a limited number of split rights releases for now. We hope to support more split rights releases in the future

Creating a Countdown Page

For: Admins and Editors

  1. Log in to artists.spotify.com.
  2. Go to Open the Music tab Music then Upcoming.
  3. Select the release and click Get started.
  4. Upload Clips and tag your merch.
  5. Review and publish.

Note: Once your licensor delivers release metadata via DDEX, you’ll see the option to create the Countdown Page within 72 hours.

You can create and edit your Countdown Page anytime before release.

Once the Countdown Page is published, fans can pre-save your release and watch Clips on your artist profile, in the Now Playing view, in notifications, and more.

When your new music goes live, we send a push notification to all pre-savers and add it to their library.

On average, nearly 70% of people who pre-save an album stream it in the first week.

How we count pre-saves

You can see pre-save numbers in Spotify for Artists. Go to Upcoming then View Analytics. These counts reflect:

  • While your Countdown Page is live: The current number of listeners who have pre-saved your release so we can notify them when it comes out and save it to their library
  • After your release goes live: The number of listeners who had pre-saved your release to their library when it came out
