Managing your lyrics on Spotify

Musixmatch provides licensed and synced lyrics for Spotify.

Get verified on Musixmatch to add, edit, and sync your lyrics on Spotify for free.

Tip: Are you a listener? You can't add lyrics, but you can view them on Spotify.

Sign up for a Musixmatch account

  1. Head to Musixmatch Pro and choose a plan. The free tier plan is all you need to add, edit, and sync lyrics on Spotify.
    Note: You can find the free plan below the paid options.
  2. Then create a Musixmatch Pro account and fill out your info.
    Tip: Use an email address linked to your artist, label, or management company to speed up verification.

Verify your artist profile on Musixmatch

  1. From your Musixmatch Pro homepage, go to Roster and select Add artist.
  2. Add your Spotify artist URL and complete the required fields. Learn how to find your Spotify artist URL
  3. Musixmatch will review your submission and email you within a few business days.

Add or edit your lyrics

Link your Spotify account to add, edit, and sync your lyrics through Musixmatch.

If you have a Spotify Premium account, Musixmatch automatically pairs your Spotify catalog with your Musixmatch Pro account.

  1. From your Musixmatch Pro homepage, select Roster.
  2. Pick a song from your To Do or Music tabs and select Lyrics.
    Tip: If you can't find your song, go to Music > Add missing release to add it manually. It may take up to 48 hours to appear.
  3. Add or edit your lyrics.
  4. Hit Send to publish your lyrics.
    Note: It may take a few days for the changes to reflect on Spotify.

Tips and guidelines

  • Transcribe your lyrics in full, including repeated words, lines, and sections
  • Don’t use multipliers like “x2”
  • Only transcribe the lyrical audio of your song
  • Label sections with tags like #VERSE and #CHORUS
  • Transcribe your lyrics in their native script

Sync lyrics to your music

Sync your lyrics so listeners can follow along in real time as they play your songs.

You can manually upload your audio files to Musixmatch via the Audio tab. If you’ve linked your Spotify Premium account, Musixmatch automatically fetches your songs’ audio files.

  1. From your Musixmatch Pro homepage, select Roster.
  2. Pick a song from your To Do or Music tabs and select Sync.
  3. Musixmatch show lyrics line by line. Listen to the song and adjust the timestamps of each line accordingly.
  4. Hit Send to publish the changes.
    Note: It may take a few days for the changes to reflect on Spotify.

Tips and guidelines

  • Sync each line when the first word of the line is sung
  • Prioritize the main vocal track if your song has multiple voices
