Switch Premium plans

Pick your plan type for how to switch to a new plan. 

Tip: You keep all your playlists, saved music, and settings no matter which plan you switch to or from. 

  1. Log into spotify.com/account.
  2. Under Your plan, click CHANGE PLAN.
  3. Choose a plan.

Let your plan members know that they’ll lose Premium at your next payment date, unless they switch to a new plan.  

You currently need to cancel before you can switch. We’re working on making this easier, but meanwhile you can follow these steps: 

  1. Log into spotify.com/account
  2. Under Your plan, click CHANGE PLAN.
  3. Scroll to Spotify Free and click CANCEL PREMIUM.
  4. Continue through to the confirmation message. 
  5. Now your account’s on free, sign up to any Premium plan at www.spotify.com/premium.

Partner Premium plans

Some companies (e.g. phone and internet providers) offer Premium as part of their own plans. 

Switch to a partner plan

If you subscribe direct with us, you need to cancel and wait until your account switches to free to activate your partner plan: 

  1. Log into spotify.com/account
  2. Under Your plan, click CHANGE PLAN.
  3. Scroll to Spotify Free and click CANCEL PREMIUM.
  4. Continue through to the confirmation message. 
  5. Wait until your account switches to free at your next billing date.
  6. When your account’s on free, activate your partner plan from their website.

Switch from a partner plan

The partner manages your billing, so you first need to cancel with them and wait for your account to switch to free to subscribe direct with us: 

  1. Go to your partner’s website to cancel your current Premium plan.
    Tip: Find their details on your account page under Payment.
  2. When your Spotify account switches to free, sign up to any Premium plan at www.spotify.com/premium.

No option to change plan?

This means your plan is associated with a partner. To switch, you first need to cancel, find their contact link on your account page under Payment
