Spotify Voice

For: Premium on mobile

Use Spotify Voice for quick and easy access to your favorite music, podcasts, and videos. You can also use it to search for your friends. Just ask!

  • “Play something I like”.
  • “Play Drake’s latest release”.
  • “Play my Daily Mix”.
  • “Recommend me something”.
  • “Play some hip hop”.

Get started 

  1. Press and hold Search  to get Spotify listening.
  2. Ask Spotify to play something by talking clearly into your mobile’s mic.
  3. Your request displays before it plays. If it’s incorrect, tap the microphone icon to try again, or play something different.



  1. Go to your mobile Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy
  3. Tap Microphone. Apps that require access to your microphone display here.
  4. Switch Spotify’s access to your microphone on/off.


  1. Go to your mobile Settings.
  2. Tap Apps, then Spotify.
  3. Tap Permissions.
  4. Next to Microphone, switch Spotify’s access to it on/off.

Spotify uses your voice data to recognize what you say, to understand you better, and to help us provide a response or taken an action to your voice command.

If your Spotify Voice doesn’t understand you, try again somewhere quieter, or rephrase your request.

Keep in mind that we don’t support all requests just yet, but we’re working on it!
