Your Spotify Premium and Alabama tax laws

For: Premium

Starting April 1, 2017, Spotify is participating in Alabama’s Simplified Sellers Use Tax (SSUT) program. This means we’re required to collect a flat 8% on all sales made in Alabama, which we remit on our users’ behalf to the Alabama Department of Revenue.

This tax is automatically collected on your monthly payment date. You can view your receipts any time to check out the details of what you’re being charged.

Note: If this affects you, but you no longer live in Alabama, be sure to update your payment details to be charged correctly.

For more information about the SSUT program, please visit the Alabama State Department of Revenue.
