Home is where you’ll find music based on your taste. We'll make playlists for you, and recommend music you'll love. Home is always fresh and made for you!
Tap Search and enter what you’re looking for. You can then play any playlist, artist, or album on shuffle. Songs must first be added to a playlist.
You can also browse different categories and listen to playlists made for every occasion (e.g. Pop, Indie, Chill, Workout, Trending, etc.). Other categories include New Releases, Charts, and Podcasts.
Find music and podcasts you save or like in Your Library . All the songs you like can be found in your Favorite Songs playlist.
Save songs, albums, and podcasts
To save a song just like it or add it to a playlist.
To add it to a playlist:
- Find the song.
- Tap (iPhone) (Android).
- Tap Add to playlist.
- Select a playlist.
Note: You can listen to the playlist in shuffle order.
Any songs you like will be added to your Favorites Songs playlist in Your Library to keep all the songs you love in one place.
To save an album, artist, or podcast, tap in the top-right corner. Everything you can be found in Your Library.
Create and edit a playlist
Playlists are a great way to save collections of music, either for your own listening or to share.
It’s quick and easy to make your own playlists on Spotify. We’ll help you. Just give your playlist a name, and we’ll start recommending songs for you.
To create a playlist:
- Tap Your Library .
- Tap CREATE.
- Give your playlist a name and tap CREATE.
- Start adding songs.
Note: Playlists you create can be played in shuffle order.
To edit a playlist:
- Tap Your Library .
- Select the playlist you want to edit.
- Tap EDIT.
To add songs to the playlist, tap ADD SONGS. To remove songs from the playlist, tap (iPhone) (Android) and select Remove from this playlist.
Now you can pick and play!
You've got a few playlists that let you play songs in any order, and skip as much as you like. You can find your playlists in Home , in the Made for you section. Any playlist without the blue Shuffle icon is ready to pick and play!
If you'd like to use less data when you play music, just turn on Data Saver. Data Saver works by showing fewer images and reducing streaming quality.
To turn on Data Saver Mode:
- Tap Home .
- Tap Settings .
- Tap Data Saver.
- Data Saver is now on.
We’ve made Spotify on mobile more personalised and easier to use. If you previously used Spotify Free on mobile (or Spotify Premium), your app might now look and function a little differently.
Any songs, playlists, artists, albums, and podcasts you saved before the app was updated can still be found in Your Library.
Note: Songs you saved are now in your Favorite Songs playlists.
Any playlist with the Shuffle icon can be played in shuffle order.
Playlists without the shuffle icon can be played in any order. You can pick individual songs, and skip as much as you like.
Note: You can pick and play anytime you want from the desktop app.
We’re currently exploring different social options for the free, ad-supported service on mobile. Right now, the ability to search for and follow your friends is unavailable. We hope to have more information about this soon.
Spotify Radio has been removed from the free, ad-supported service on mobile.

Podcasts can be found in Search. Podcasts you are saved to Your Library, under Podcasts.
Videos have been removed from the free, ad-supported service. You can still watch videos included in editorial playlists, such as Rap Caviar, and video ads.
The ability to add local (personal) music files has been removed from the free, ad-supported service on mobile.
You can skip tracks 6 times every hour. Don’t worry about keeping track - we’ll let you know how many skips you have left.
You can skip tracks as much as you like with a Pick and Play playlist (playlists without the Shuffle icon), and with the desktop app.
To make the music you love easier to find, you get suggested tracks and artists for your playlists as you create and edit them. The more you listen, the better your suggestions will be. Just look out for YOU ADDED and WE ADDED.
