Music that impersonates another artist's voice
Spotify will remove music that impersonates another artist’s voice without their permission — whether that’s using AI voice cloning or any other method.
For the purposes of this policy, the terms “impersonate” and “clone” mean creating a song that uses a replica of another artist’s voice without that artist's permission.
This applies to claims we receive with respect to:
- Releases that clone a real artist’s voice without their permission — whether or not the uploader is pretending to be the artist or is presenting themselves as an “AI version” of the artist.
- Releases that do not include the impersonated artist’s name in the metadata or credits, but the vocals are clearly recognizable as the exact voice of another artist, without that artist’s permission.
There are some exceptions to this policy, such as certain forms of parody.
What should I do if someone has uploaded a song that impersonates me?
Our policies are designed to protect artists from unauthorized use of their identity and voice.
Spotify doesn’t know whether the use of another artist’s voice is a cleared sample or collaboration, so we must receive a claim from the artist or someone acting on their behalf to know that the impersonation is not authorized.
Submit a claim through our legal form if you're an artist and you believe someone is impersonating your voice on Spotify without your authorization. Select Publicity / Likeness as the report type.
Review the "Deceptive Content" section of our Platform Rules for more info about content that deceptively impersonates others’ name and image.
We review every submission and will take action as appropriate, including removing the content from Spotify if it violates this policy.
