With Spotify and the Clock app from Google™, you can choose any track, album, artist, or playlist as your alarm.

Get started

Make sure Spotify and the Clock app are both installed on your Android™ phone. 

If you don’t yet have Spotify, you can download it from Google Play. You’ll get the option to create an account if you don’t already have one.

The Clock app comes pre-installed on some Android™ devices, or is available to download from Google Play for all Android™ phones.

Set your alarm 

  1. Open the Clock app from Google™.
  2. Tap an alarm in the ALARM tab.
  3. Tap the alarm (bell) symbol, then SPOTIFY.
  4. Tap Connect and continue to allow access to your Spotify account.
  5. Find recommendations for you, including morning playlists.
    To find something specific, tap the search icon in the bottom-right corner.
  6. Tap any track, album, artist, or playlist to preview it and choose as your alarm. A check mark indicates your choice is set.
    Tip: Tap again to stop the preview. Your selection is not undone until you select something else.
  7. After making your selection, go back to the ALARM tab. Here you can set the alarm time, vibrate mode, and other settings.

When it’s time for your alarm, the music you chose will play. You can either snooze it or turn it off. If you turn the alarm off, you can tap Continue Playing to keep listening.

Change your alarm

  1. Open the Clock app from Google™.
  2. Tap the alarm in the ALARM tab.
  3. Tap the Spotify logo (showing your current selection).
  4. Tap the SPOTIFY tab.
  5. Tap any track, album, artist, or playlist to change your alarm. A check mark indicates your choice is set.

FAQ

Yes, your chosen track/artist/playlist/album will play just like any alarm tone you’ve previously set. The music plays from your phone speakers and plays at the volume set for your alarms, even if you have headphones plugged in. 

If there are connectivity issues or any other errors, the integration will fall back to the default alarm tone on the Clock app.

Nope! Spotify on the Clock app is available for both Spotify free or Premium users. 

Note: If you use the free service, you’ll hear audio ads and your music is shuffled - just like with the main Spotify app. On individual tracks, the songs are shuffled by Album.

  1. Log in to your account page.
  2. Select Apps in the menu on the left. 
  3. Find The Clock app by Google and select REMOVE ACCESS.

It’s currently not possible to set a target device. The alarm always plays from your phone’s speakers.

No, each song/playlist/artist/album always plays from the beginning.
