Change username

It’s not possible to change your username, but click an option below for alternative solutions.

If you can’t remember your username, don’t worry! You don’t need it to log in. You can log in with just your password and the email address associated with your account.

If you can’t remember your email address, try the following:

  • Enter any email addresses you use into our password reset form. If there’s an account associated with it, you'll see a message saying so.
  • Check your email inboxes, including any spam or junk folders, for emails from Spotify. If you have any, it's likely there's an account you can log into with that email address.

If you can’t remember your password, you can reset it. Just enter your email address or username into the password reset form, and we’ll send you an email with a link to reset your password.

If you want a profile that displays a different name, you can create a new account. During sign up, you can create any profile name you'd like.

As a heads up, if you choose to create a new account and you have the student discount, you won’t be able to apply it to your new account until 12 months have elapsed since you signed up for it.

Note: It’s not possible to log in with a profile name.

As we look to improve the overall Spotify experience, we’re now automatically generating usernames, hence the random numbers and letters.

You don’t need to remember this to log in. You can log in with just your password and the email address associated with your account.

During sign up, you can personalize your account by creating a profile name that’s displayed in the app. There’s no limitations to a profile name, so you can choose any you like :)

Note: It’s not possible to log in with a profile name.

To re-establish the connection with Facebook and have your display name reappear, you may need to log out and back in.
