Reading, approving, and reacting to comments

Encourage your audience to leave comments on your episodes, and create meaningful relationships with your fans on Spotify by reacting and replying to your favorites.

Fans can leave, react, and reply to comments on the Spotify mobile app.

Reading comments

When your fans reply to comments, it creates a thread, which you can view on both the Spotify for Creators web and mobile apps. A purple dot indicates you have new comments to read.

You can see all live comments on your episodes in the Comments tab.

A top level comment from a creator or a pinned comment will appear at the top of the comments on an episode page if they’re available. All other comments are ranked based on a variety of factors like sentiment, recency, and the number of replies and reactions on the comment. You can additionally filter comments by automated filters provided to you, like Trending or Contains a question.

Learn more about how you can moderate comments

We notify you when you receive a new comment. We also send a recap email every Thursday.

To encourage conversations you can also add your own comment and pin it to the top of your episode by clicking the “Add a Comment” button.

Replying and reacting to comments

You’ve worked hard to build a community on Spotify so we’ve introduced settings to make it easier to manage and control what type of comments you want to appear on your page.

You can take the following actions on any comment:

  • Like to react to a comment
  • Pin to pin a comment
  • Open the Comments tab to leave a response

Comments you react or reply to are also approved and appear on your episode page in the Spotify mobile app. Comments you pin appear at the top of your episode page in the Spotify mobile app.

You can review any unpublished comments under Needs Review and use the Approve to approve a comment to make them visible on Spotify.

Why you should engage with comments

Reacting and replying to comments helps build your fan community on Spotify and makes your audience feel heard. You can additionally leave a top-level comment on your episode for all of your listeners to see to help kickstart the conversation.

We notify fans when you react or reply to their comment.

We display your show art next to your comments when you use Spotify for Creators to reply, letting fans know you (or your team) responded. You can respond as many times as you want to your listeners.
