Tax form 1042 for international payees:
U.S. tax law mandates that Findaway report payments to international payees on tax form 1042 distributed annually by mid-April. Recipients of tax form 1042 should consult a local tax advisor for advice. Requirements may vary between tax jurisdictions with regards to reporting of income and withholding tax payments. Recipients are responsible for complying with local tax law and submitting appropriate local, state, and/or national tax filings to taxing authorities within recipient’s tax jurisdiction. Withholding tax submitted by Findaway on behalf of the recipient is reported to the U.S. taxing agency known as the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). A local tax advisor should be able to provide direction on how to account for these tax payments.
