Your Taste Profile
Your Taste Profile is Spotify’s interpretation of your taste based on what you listen to and how you listen to it. It helps us to personalize your Spotify recommendations, like Discover Weekly and your Home page. It also helps us to personalize experiences with taste summaries, like Wrapped and Blend.
Exclude a playlist or a track from your Taste Profile
If you exclude a playlist or track from your Taste Profile, your past and future listens will have less impact on your taste summaries and recommendations.
For example, if you exclude your nightly sleep music, those listens won’t affect personalized playlists like Discover Weekly and Wrapped.
- Select a playlist or track.
- Tap
(iPhone and Desktop) /
(Android) near the top of the playlist.
- Choose Exclude from your taste profile for playlists or Exclude track from your taste profile for tracks.
To add it back, tap Include in your taste profile for playlists or Include track in your taste profile for tracks.
Note: If you listen to songs that are on an excluded playlist but do so from outside the playlist, such as in Liked Songs, those streams will still be included in your Taste Profile.
How long does it take for excluding a playlist or track to take effect?
Exclusion of a playlist or track from your Taste Profile will take effect within 48 hours. Some recommended content such as Discover Weekly may not be affected until the following week.
What items can I exclude from the Taste Profile?
You can only exclude playlists or tracks from your Taste Profile.
What exactly happens when I exclude a playlist or track from my Taste Profile?
If you exclude a playlist or track from your Taste Profile, past and future streams from that playlist or of that track will have less impact on your music recommendations and taste summaries.
How does this differ from the "Hide in this playlist" option?
Hiding a song prevents that song from playing whenever you listen to that particular playlist. You can also opt to Snooze a track for 30 days via the “Hide” option. Neither of these features impacts your taste profile.
What effect will this have on my Wrapped?
Streams from excluded playlists or tracks will not be included in any Wrapped story or data point (e.g. top artist or top songs), other than total listening time.
Can I request what I’ve excluded via Data rights and privacy choices - Spotify?
Yes, you can request to review the playlists or tracks you have excluded.
